New measures part of FSRA's commitment to protecting consumers
In a bid to maintain updated licensing practices, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA) has rolled out changes to its criminal record check procedures.
As of July 24, all new applicants seeking a license will be required to undergo criminal record checks through FSRA's approved vendor, Triton. To avail of Triton's services, applicants will be charged a nominal fee of $19.15.
Current general insurance agents holding licenses may also be subject to criminal record checks during their renewal application process.
FSRA will inform applicants if this step is necessary, and they should closely monitor their email for instructions from the licensing team on how to proceed.
These measures form part of FSRA's commitment to safeguarding consumers by ensuring only suitable individuals can sell or provide financial products and services in Ontario.
