Stikeman Elliott LLP, Rubin Thomlinson LLP and Tim Lawson of McCarthy Tétrault LLP received awards at the 2019 Canadian HR Awards.

Stikemans received the Venngo Award of Excellence for Financial, Physical & Mental Wellness, which recognizes organizations’ excellent efforts in providing employees with wellness programs.

“We believe in being partners in the success of our firm members,” Marc Barbeau, the firm’s chairman, said in a statement. “We also understand the importance of a positive work environment and we support firm members in their pursuit of health and wellness in the workplace.”

Toronto-based Rubin Thomlinson was awarded ‘’Labour & Employment Law Boutique of the Year,” which recognizes vision, leadership, client service, and expertise among law firms that focus primarily on labour and employment law, regardless of size.

“This award is a reflection of our team’s dedication and hard work to service excellence,” Rubin Thomlinson said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Tim Lawson, national labour and employment practice group leader at McCarthys, was named ‘Best Labour & Employment Lawyer (within a practice)’.

According to a statement by McCarthy’s, Lawson has represented many significant Canadian and international employers, both provincially and federally regulated, on labour and employment matters of all types. He was recognized “for championing a number of innovative client services and solutions designed with the HR community in mind. These include interactive training programs, the HR compliance diagnostic tool and the integration of HR professionals into the L&E group.”

The Sept. 12 awards ceremony in Toronto was organized by Human Resources Director magazine, which is also owned by Law Times parent company Key Media.
