After more than 35 years providing family law-focused software DivorceMate has become an integral part of practicing family law. They have become ubiquitous by knowing the needs of their clients, and by constantly innovating to meet them. Their forms and precedents save lawyers time and their Tools software, which is their child and spousal support calculator, is essential for anyone working in the practice area.

Now, DivorceMate Software has a brand-new offering for its members’ educational and training needs. DivorceMate University (DMU) is the place for DivorceMate members to learn “everything DivorceMate”, whether they’re a beginner, new to the software, or an expert wanting to expand their knowledge of the software’s extensive features.

“While our software is very intuitive and can be used without much onboarding, there are hundreds of inputs, features and options in our software of which many members are unaware. We wanted all members to have the same advantage when using the software and to be fully aware of its capabilities,” says Christine Montgomery, Vice President of Family Law at DivorceMate.  “The organization of DMU into beginner and advanced levels allows members to learn at their own pace.  The division of the advanced library according to topics means that members can access the information they require based on the unique facts and issues in their case.”

For those looking for a brief introduction to each of the different product lines – Forms, Tools, and Precedents – DMU includes short “how to” videos to get started without a large time commitment. DMU also includes dozens of short FAQ videos, articles, and other valuable resources.

“Each family situation is unique, and so our software needs to offer as much flexibility as possible to allow members to come up with creative solutions for their clients,” Montgomery says.

For those members interested in more extensive training, DMU includes replays of longer training webinars on the “basics,” as well as multiple one-hour in-depth training webinars on a variety of topics related to complex child and spousal support calculations. These webinars are conducted by Montgomery, who has nearly 20 years of experience with DivorceMate, and who was in private family practice before that. They delve into issues such as Shared Parenting, Section 7 Expenses, Life Insurance and Lump Sum Support, and Undue Hardship, to name just a few.

By diving deep into these topics, DMU provides members with invaluable, substantive understanding of the software and its application to various scenarios.  Plus, these webinars also qualify for CLE hours required by most provincial law societies.

Registration for DMU is free and exclusive to DivorceMate members. To access DivorceMate University, please email [email protected]
