The Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies and the Shirley E. Greenberg Chair for Women and the Legal Profession have singled out four women for their work promoting human rights.
The Human Rights Action Awards, handed out to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, were handed out last week at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law.
Recipients included former United Nations high commissioner for human rights Louise Arbour, “Strength in Sisterhood” founding member Gayle Horii, Block Parents founding member Margaret MacGee, and award-winning writer, activist, and scholar Patricia Monture.
