SWAPPING SNOW FOR SUNSHINE
A Crown attorney from Napanee, Ont. has swapped the snow for the sunshine, accepting the role of judge in the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court.

Richard Floyd, who has roots in Grenada, told the Belleville Intelligencer the new assignment was a home-coming of sorts.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing what my ancestors experienced firsthand,” he told the paper. “I’m thrilled by the confidence they have shown in me and my abilities.”

According to the Intelligencer, Floyd will be working out of the court’s St. John’s, Antigua branch, one of nine Caribbean islands under the ECSC’s jurisdiction.

Floyd, who was called to the bar in 1986, worked in private practice before making the switch to the Crown’S office in 1994.
