Fantino and Domm have been appointed to the Toronto and Central East regions, respectively
The Ontario government has announced the appointment of Gregory John Fantino and John Clayton Domm as regional senior justices of the peace to the Ontario Court of Justice.
Fantino has been appointed to the Toronto region, replacing Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Melanie Bremner. He takes up the new role on February 21.
Fantino was first named an Ontario Court of Justice justice of the peace to the Toronto region in 2009. He has served as local administrative justice of the peace and acted as a secondary mentor to new justices of the peace.
Prior to his court appointment, he was senior vice-president of Marsh Canada Limited, spearheading sales, marketing, and business development. He was a commercial underwriter at Lombard Insurance in 1994, and from 2000 to 2007, he was a partner and managing director at Arthur J. Gallagher Canada Limited.
Fantino holds a certificate in adjudication for administrative agencies, boards, and tribunals from Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development at York University.
Meanwhile, Domm has been appointed to the Central East region, replacing Regional Senior Justice of the Peace Martha De Gannes. He takes up the post on March 1.
Domm was named an Ontario Court of Justice justice of the peace to Simcoe/Muskoka in June 2021. In January 2024, he was appointed local administrative justice of the peace.
He has been part of the chief justice’s Indigenous initiatives advisory committee. Prior to his court appointment, he was in the police for 28 years and was chief of police for 10 of those years. He has also served as the Parole Board of Canada’s regional vice chairperson, RCMP Management Advisory Board member, and was part of the Treasury Board of Canada’s Departmental Audit Committee for Public Safety Canada.
Domm received the Member Order of Merit for the Police Forces and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal and Police Exemplary Service Medal.
Regional senior justices of the peace help the associate chief justice/coordinator of justices of the peace and the regional senior judge with matters related to justices of the peace.
