McMillan LLP welcomes litigator Marc McLaren-Caux to Ottawa partnership

Litigator Marc McLaren-Caux has joined McMillan LLP as a new regulatory partner in its Ottawa office, co-leading the firm’s procurement practice.

He focuses on international trade and brings experience in high-value, complex federal public procurement and trade remedy litigation in Canada. He is also knowledgeable in federal regulatory law and an expert in matters involving administrative and public law, aerospace and defence, and manufacturing.

McLaren-Caux has worked with clients in the security and defence, manufacturing, construction, and information technology sectors. He has served as lead counsel before all levels of superior and federal courts in Canada, as well as before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal. He acted for public and private sector clients in complex first instance and appeal proceedings.

According to McMillan, he is the youngest lawyer to be ranked by Chambers Canada and Legal 500 as a leading lawyer and rising star in the field of public procurement.

Before making the jump to McMillan, McLaren-Caux spent eight years with Cassidy Levy Kent LLP, where he was international trade counsel from March 2017 to January 2021. He then made partner at the firm, a role he held until March this year.

According to LinkedIn, he was also an associate with Conway Davis Gryski in Toronto from July 2014 to March 2017. He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk with the Federal Court.

McLaren-Caux is part of the Law Society of Ontario and the American Bar Association. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013.

He obtained his BA from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 and his JD from the University of Ottawa in 2011. He speaks English and French.
